Flat Stanley

Posted at 04:41 AM on April 09, 2009

Jordan came home from school with a picture of Flat Stanley the day before Spring Break.  Acording to the instructions we are supposed to take him on an adventure.  Jordan has decided that Stanley must accompany us to see the new Hannah Montana movie.

Suffice to say that was my introduction to a wonderful set of books by Jeff Brown whose crentral character is the horizontally challenged Stanley Lambchop, who uses his unque size to have amazing adventures.  Stanley gets mailed, rolled up and even becomes a hero!  Look for a review very soon.

Speaking of Hannah Montana, there is a kind of new (out a few weeks) autobiography called Miles to Go.  I haven't checked it out but I think that it may be cool to drop in an Easter Basket since all of us mothers of tweenish girls will be heading to the theater this weekend bopping to the "Hoedown Throwdown."  If this means nothing to you, then you probably don't watch as much Disney channel as I do.

Other stuff we are reading:  We are still winding our way through the Junie B. Jones series.  Jordan's official time is an hour per book so we are mostly using them as library reads.

Enjoy your week and keep reading.  We will.

Rebecca and Ana
Rebecca and Ana
by Jacqueline Dunbar Greene

Rebecca's cousin, Ana, has made the journey from Russia to Ellis Island. Rebecca happily shares her world with Ana until she must include her in her shining moment at school.

Tabatha Says:  The second book in a 6 book series, it perfectly captures themes that middlegrade readers of today deal with by exploring early 20th century issues, particularly the challenges of immigrants.
Jordan Says:  I like it because says alot about friendship
